Il y a environ 700 garçons et filles qui vont au Vrij Handels-en Sportinstituut. Les élèves sont divisés en 40 classes et sont encadrés par plus de 100 professeurs et par le personnel administratif et éducatif.

Dans le domaine d’études Commerce avec environ 340 élèves, nous offrons les sections d’études d’E.S.T. comme Commerce, Commerce-Langues, Secrétariat-Langues, Comptabilité-Informatique et Gestion d’Informatique. Après ces études les élèves peuvent suivre une formation de baccalauréat axée sur la vie d’entreprises, l’enseignement, le monde de l’informatique…

L’élève qui veut suivre une formation plus pratique peut opter pour la section d’études Bureau où il sera préparé au travail administratif dans une entreprise, e.a. par des stages et des séminaires.
Dans la section d’études Commerce nous offrons également une année de spécialisation appelée Administration Professions Libérales.

Les diplômés qui veulent ouvrir leur propre commerce ou qui entrent dans la vie d’entreprises peuvent suivre des cours du soir de l’enseignement pour adultes dans les classes du V.H.S.I. Il y a chaque année environ 400 élèves qui suivent des cours en comptabilité-informatique, logiciel applicatif ou graduat en comptabilité.

Dans le domaine d’études Sport avec environ 360 élèves, nous offrons une section d’études d’E.S.G. Sport et Sciences-Sport. Dans ces formations les matières des sciences et des mathématiques sont assez élaborées. Dans l’ensemble des matières des sports les élèves peuvent choisir l'option “Sport” ou l’option “Danse”. Tous les élèves suivent l’athlétisme, la gymnastique, les sports d’équipe et la formation rythmique expressive.

Les élèves de la section d’E.S.G. se préparent à une formation de baccalauréat et maîtrise dans l’enseignement supérieur où ils suivent surtout l’Education Physique, la Kinésithérapie, l’Ingénieur industriel…
Les élèves de la section d’E.S.T. peuvent suivre une formation de baccalauréat dans les domaines d’études comme les Soins médicaux, l’Enseignement, l’Assistance sociale…

En plus, nous offrons encore une année de spécialisation Sport et Animation des loisirs.

A l’école il y a également un internat pour 40 garçons. Les filles peuvent loger à l’internat St-Jan à Bruges (voir Sint-Jansinternaat)

Le V.H.S.I. se trouve au bord de la ville historique Bruges, à environ 250 m. de la gare, dans le campus d’enseignement Ter Groene Poorte. Le V.H.S.I. dispose non seulement de classes professionnelles ou techniques et des laboratoires mais aussi d’un centre d’apprentissage ouvert et de plusieurs classes d’informatique. Un peu plus loin sur le campus il y a le centre de sport avec un terrain de football, une grande salle omnisports avec un mur d’escalade, un studio de danse professionnel et un centre de remise en forme. Pour la natation et l’athlétisme nous faisons un petit déplacement en bus.

Notre objectif est un enseignement fort qualitatif où nous offrons un projet d’apprentissage et de vie fascinant. Les jeunes sont préparés à l’enseignement supérieur et à une vie précieuse dans la société quotidienne. Des valeurs d’inspiration chrétienne forment la base dans la vie sociale au V.H.S.I.

La formation d’attitudes, l’intérêt pour l’actualité et la stimulation de la créativité sont très importants pour nous. C’est pourquoi nous organisons chaque année plusieurs projets comme une journée de sport, une journée de culture, une journée mondiale, une journée d’environnement et de santé et des journées-créa. En outre, différents projets plus petits sont organisés à l’intérieur du programme d’apprentissage. Les échanges avec d’autres domaines linguistiques, les manifestations sportives et culturelles, la poésie et la littérature, l’initiation aux entreprises sont organisés régulièrement.

Notre grand défi est d’apprendre de bonnes compétences d’apprentissage à l’aide du projet Apprendre à Etudier où l’évaluation de soi-même et l’apprentissage autonome guidé sont stimulés. A cet effet la plate-forme électronique (EloV) offre un éventail de possibilités.
Les leçons de rattrapage et l’étude du soir sont gratuites. L’aide dans le choix d’une bonne section d’études est aussi une de nos priorités.

We have over 700 pupils and more than 100 staff.

There are about 340 pupils in the vocational department. They take applied business, informatics, accountancy and languages.

When they have finished their training with us they can embark on bachelor degree courses in business, education, the world of the data processing...

The Office Management Department provides for those who prefer a more practical training. It specializes in the skills that you need at the office. Internships and seminars are an essential part of this course and prepare for an administrative function in a company.

We also have a specialisation year called ‘Administration for Liberal Professions’.

Graduates who start up their own business or join the business world can take evening courses (for adults) at our school. Every year we have about 400 enrolments that take part in one of the accountancy, informatics or applied software technology courses.

In the sports department with approximately 360 students we have the general secondary education department ‘Sports’ and ‘Sports Sciences’ and in the vocational department we have the ‘Physical Education & Sports’ department. In this training there is a vast parcel sciences and maths. Within the sports parcel the pupils can choose between the option ‘Sports’ and the option ‘Dancing’ Everybody gets athletics, practises gymnastics, swims, takes parts in team sports and rhythmically expressive shaping.

The pupils in the general secondary education department prepare for a bachelor - and master training in higher education, in which they especially take physical education, physiotherapy, industrial engineering....

The pupils in the vocational department prepare for a bachelor training in higher education, in which they especially take health care, education, and social work...

We provide moreover a specialisation year ‘Sports and Free Time Entertainment’.

At our school we also have a boarding school for boys (about 40). Girls are provided for at the boarding school of Sint-Jan in Bruges (see Sint-Jansinternaat)

Our school is on the edge of the city of Bruges, at approximately 250 metres from the station, on the campus of Ter Groene Poorte.

Besides several profession rooms and labs the VHSI has an open learning centre and several computer rooms. Somewhat further on the campus is the sport centre itself with a football field, a large gym with climbing wall a professional dancing studio and fitness room. For swimming and athletics we make a short trip with the bus.

We organise each year several school projects, such as a sports day, a culture day, a global day, an environment - and health day and ‘creativity days’.

Moreover in all years and departments, smaller projects that dovetail with the syllabus: contacts with other language areas, cultural- and sport events, poetry and literature, familiarisation with companies... are programmed at regular intervals

We learned that acquiring good study skills is a formidable challenge for many of our pupils.

We help them change their attitude with the project ‘Liever Leren Leren’. Self-evaluation and accompanied independent learning are two of the strategies that are applied here. The electronic learning platform EloV provides a lot of possibilities here, courses for catching up and evening study are free. Helping to choose the correct career is also an important point of interest.

Es gibt ungefähr 340 Schüler in der Abteilung Realschule. Sie bekommen eine anwendungsorientierte kaufmännische Ausbildung, studieren Informatik, Buchführungswesen und wenn sie ihr Training mit uns beendet haben, können sie eine Bachelor-Ausbildung im Businessbereich oder eine Lehrerausbildung absolvieren bzw. in die Welt der Datenverarbeitung... einschiffen.

Die Handels-Abteilung steht denjenigen zur Verfügung, die ein praktischeres Training bevorzugen. Sie spezialisiert sich auf die Fähigkeiten, die sie bei einer Bürotätigkeit benötigen. Internships und Seminare sind ein wesentlicher Teil dieses Kurses und bereiten sie auf eine Verwaltungstätigkeit in einer Firma vor.

Wir bieten auch einen einjährigen Ausbildungszweig an, Verwaltung für liberaleBerufe genannt. Graduierte, die ihr eigenes Geschäft beginnen oder die Geschäftswelt schon kennen gelernt haben, können Abendkurse (für Erwachsene) an unserer Schule belegen. Jedes Jahr haben wir ungefähr 400 Kursteilnehmer/Schüler, die an einem der Kurse in Buchführungswesen Informatik- oder in angewandter Software-Technologie teilnehmen.

In der Sportabteilung mit ungefähr 360 Schülern gibt es die allgemeine Sekundarausbildung: Sport und Sport-Wissenschaften und, in der Realabteilung, die Leibeserziehungs- und Sportabteilung. In diesem Ausbildungsbereich spielen auch Naturwissenschaften und Mathe eine beträchtliche Rolle.

In der Sportabteilung hat man die Wahl zwischen Sport und Tanz. Alle üben Athletik, Gymnastik, Schwimmen und nehmen an Mannschaftssportarten und rhythmischer Sportgymnastik teil.

Die Schüler in der allgemeinen Sekundarausbildung bereiten sich auf ein Bachelor Training in einem höheren Ausbildungszweig vor, wofür sie besonders gerne die Fächer Sport, Physiotherapie oder Verfahrenstechnik... wählen.

In unserer Schule haben wir auch ein Internat für Jungen (mit ungefähr 40 Plätzen). Mädchen steht das Internat von Sint-Jan in Brügge zur Verfügung (siehe Sint-Jansinternaat)

Unsere Schule liegt am Rand der Stadt Brügge, ungefähr 250 Meter vom Bahnhof entfernt, auf dem Campus von Ter Groene Poorte.

Außer einigen Fachräumen und -labors verfügt das VHSI über ein offenes Lernzentrum und viele Computerräume. Etwa hundert Meter von dem Hauptgebäude entfernt befindet sich auf dem Campus unser eigenes Sportzentrum mit einem Fußballfeld, einer großen Turnhalle, einer Kletterwand, einem professionellen Tanzstudio und einem Fitnessraum. Zum Schwimmen und zur Leichtathletik legen wir die kurze Strecke mit dem Bus zurück.

Unsere sich schnell ändernde Gesellschaft, mit ihrem Akzent auf der Verantwortung des Einzelnen, benötigt nicht nur hohe akademische Standards, aber auch einen unabhängigen Geist, den unsere Schule zu fördern versucht. Wir zielen darauf, das Wissen, die Erfahrung, die Phantasie und das Verständnis jedes Schülers zu vergrößern und zu fördern und gleichzeitig ein Bewußtsein der moralischen Werte und eine Fähigkeit zum Genießen zu entwickeln, die ihnen ermöglichen, aktive Teilnehmer in der Gesellschaft zu sein.

Aus diesem Grund organisieren wir jedes Jahr einige Schulprojekte, wie einen Sporttag, einen Kulturtag, einen mondialen Tag, einen Klima – und Gesundheitstag und Schauspieltage.

Außerdem gibt es in allen Jahrgängen und Abteilungen kleinere Projekte, die mit dem Lehrplan eng verknüpft sind: Kontakte mit anderen Sprachregionen, Kultur- und Sportveranstaltungen, Poesie und Literatur, oft in Zusammenarbeit mit Firmen... werden in regelmäßigen Abständen programmiert.

Wir lernten, dass es eine beeindruckende Herausforderung für viele unserer Schüler ist, eine gute Studierfähigkeit zu erwerben. Wir helfen ihnen, mit Hilfe des Projekts 'Lieber Lernen Lernen' ihre Einstellung zu ändern. Selbstevaluation und das begleitete unabhängige Lernen sind zwei der Strategien, die hier erlernt werden. die elektronische Lernplattform EloV bietet eine Menge Möglichkeiten. Aufholungskurse und Daltonstundensind kostenlos. Hilfe bei der richtigen Karrierewahl bildet ebenfalls einen wichtigen Punkt unseres Interesses.
